FES & MES Celebrated "Kindy 500"

Fortville Elementary School (FES), McCordsville Elementary School (MES) and Mt. Comfort Elementary (MCE) recently celebrated the month of racing by hosting "Kindy 500." Kindergarteners decorated a cardboard box as a race car, paraded through their school and completed a lap in front of an audience of parents.

FES’s "Kindy 500" started with all students cheering them on as they walked through the school with their race car. The ceremony began with the choir singing the National Anthem, followed by the Art Teacher, Mr. Reiffel, dressed as Batman with his own "pace car" (decorated bike), leading the first lap outside. The students then raced a lap, followed by the students celebrating with their families.

MES hosted their "Kindy 500" with Indy 500 Broadcaster Paul Page announcing each race. The kindergarten students took a lap around the school track high-fiving older students and then raced one another in group races. Several heats revealed a class winner, and they competed to have the fastest overall winner. Two 500 Princesses, one of which is Mt. Vernon alumna Lauren Pilkington, gave the fastest racer a jug of milk and an award.

MCE also held a “Kindy 500” this May. Students walked around the schools with their decorated cardboard boxes and then took a lap around the track.

We want to congratulate all of the kindergartners on their amazing cars!
