Preschool Enrollment Information

Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year is open!

The Mt. Vernon Early Learning Academy Mini-Marauder Preschool is Mt. Vernon's preschool for the district. We provide services for children who are ages 3-5. The Mini-Marauder Preschool has a rolling enrollment. Students are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. All enrollment materials and fees must be submitted to the preschool office for a child to be considered enrolled. Please print and complete the online enrollment or stop by the preschool to pick up a packet. MMP enrollment CANNOT be completed online. Students enrolling full-time will be given first placement. If there are openings, part-time requests will be accepted. Once classes are full, students will be placed on a waiting list.

Families should be sure to select the enrollment packet for the school year in which they are seeking services. Open enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year started March 1, 2023.

 

Students/Families Living in the District:

Living within the district boundaries enables students to automatically attend Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) schools. Preschool families of new students who live in the district should register by printing and completing the correct year's enrollment packet. Please bring the completed printed packet and accompanying documentation to the preschool when registering.

  • Copy of student's birth certificate
  • Copy of current immunization records 
  • Proof of residency -- one of the following:
    • Proof of legal settlement consisting of a residential building permit,
    • Rental agreement,
    • Property tax statement,
    • Voter registration card, or
    • Two (2) current utility bills dated within 60 days of student enrollment
  • Guardian photo identification
  • Copy of court papers, if there is a custody arrangement
  • Individual education plan (IEP), if applicable
  • $50 registration fee

 

Out-of-District Students/Families:

The Mini-Marauder Preschool is closed to new out-of-district/transfer families for the 2023-2024 school year.  Please contact the Preschool office at 317-485-3100 with questions.

 

Out-of-District, Currently Enrolled Mini-Marauder Preschool Student

The family of any currently enrolled student who lives outside the Mt. Vernon school district and wishes to be enrolled in the Mini-Marauder Preschool during the 2023-2024 school year must have applied for the Out-of-District/Transfer online application (www.mvcsc.k12.in.us/transfer23) during one of these two windows: Window 1  –  Friday, April 14 at 4 p.m. through Monday, April 24 at 8 a.m. or Window 2  –  Friday, May 5 at 4 p.m. through Monday, May 15 at 8 a.m.

All out-of-district students enrolled in the Mini-Marauder Preschool for the 2022-2023 school year will be accepted for the 2023-2024 school year, but families will need to fill out the Out-of-District/Transfer application for each child during one of the two application windows. 

As Superintendent Dr. Parker has previously shared, once you are a Mt. Vernon student/family, those students will remain part of the Mt. Vernon family. (Once students reach kindergarten, the only exception is if there are major discipline or attendance issues.) 

 

Out-of-District, Not Currently Enrolled in MMP but Siblings Enrolled in MVCSC

If a child is not currently enrolled in the Mini-Marauder Preschool and is out-of-district/transfer but he/she has a sibling or step-sibling attending any Mt. Vernon school, or, if a child’s parent/step-parent is a Mt. Vernon staff member, the child is NOT considered a new out-of-district transfer family. To be accepted for the 2023-2024 school year, the family must have filled out the Out-of-District/Transfer application during one of the two windows listed above and received an acceptance letter.
