Superintendent Dr. Jack Parker has scheduled three “Traveling Talks” throughout the Mt. Vernon community in 2024. These “Traveling Talks” are an opportunity for community members to communicate directly with Dr. Parker and share their hopes, questions, and/or concerns about Mt. Vernon schools. This casual dialogue is designed to connect the community with school leadership.

It's time to mark your calendars for Kindergarten Roundup!  Visit the elementary school your child will attend on Tuesday, April 2 or Thursday, April 4 between 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.  

out-of-district transfer 24/25

All students who live out-of-district and are interested in attending or are currently attending a Mt. Vernon school are also required to submit an application during either of these selected windows to attend a Mt. Vernon school during the 2024-2025 school year. If you live in any MVCSC enrollment area, you do NOT need to complete this application.

TOY SOY 2024

The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is proud to share this year’s building winners of Teacher of the Year (TOY) and Staff of the Year (SOY). This year's building TOY winners included the following: Fortville Elementary - Kelsey Rusk, McCordsville Elementary - Abby Kern, Mt. Comfort Elementary - Liz Jenkins, Mt. Vernon High School - Laura Hannah, Mt. Vernon Middle School - Michelle Dunahee, Administration Building - Krista Weber. SOY winners included the following: Fortville Elementary - Beth Thomas, McCordsville Elementary - Trudy Cole, Mt. Comfort Elementary - Tonya Brown, Mt. Vernon High School - Kelly Fleming, Mt. Vernon Middle School - Cathay Womack, Administration Building - Tori Wisker. Special thanks to the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation (MVEF) for sponsoring Mt. Vernon’s TOY and SOY awards.

Welcome Britt to Board

The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Meghan Britt’s appointment to fill the vacant board seat amidst a highly competitive applicant pool. Britt will fill the remainder of Tony May’s term, extending through the 2024 calendar year.
